. . . aftermarket ignitions for the NSX. A buddy asked me about it and I couldn't give him a real good answer. I haven't heard of anyone "moding" their NSX w/ one and nothing was listed in the performance section in FAQ - as far as I know. He specifically said I should try a Jacobs Ice Pack or MSD 6 something or other. I really didn't know anything about either of them - save ads in SCC.

Any info is appreciated.

You know, I thought about that too, but my GUESS would be that putting an MSD ignition on a Coil on plug ignition system like the NSX would be much more complicated and expensive than on a less sophisticated system (Ignition modules or Distributor). My understanding is that the MSD ignition is there in order to get you multiple/more powerful sparks from your plugs, but isnt the whole point of a Coil on plug ignition to get you just that? (Minus the multiple sparks?)

I have seen a couple of cars with a version of the HKS Twin Power ignition, but I have no idea if it actually made any difference. I suspect not. Most aftermarket ignitions are difficult/impractical with the NSX because of the direct fire setup with an ignitor for each cylinder. You would think it would have more power than it does, but its a pretty wussy system for a performance car.

If you have an aftermarket management system (Haltec, etc.) you might have a bit more leeway and could probably set it up to fire through a pair of MSD coils or something similar. I would be using six coils off a C5 if I could find an elegant way to mount them, but there isn't.
