Anyone have any experience w/ DC headers and Exhaust on NSX??

I have DC Sports headers & a Tubi exhaust on my '93. The headers seem to be well made, installed easily ( with the help of a more knowledgable friend ), and the fact that they have a flexible connection to the cats seems to have been a benefit in fitting the exhaust to the car. I am very satisfied with the results.

I had the DC exhaust on my car for about 2 weeks, not cool at all. For starters it is an extremely heavy piece, about 5 lbs heavier than my stock as a guess! Secondly my car didn't sound any louder than stock, and I felt no noticable power increase at all. I have heard that exhaust works best w/o cats, but I can not verify how well it works under those conditions. My advice, even at a great deal....don't do it! Just my opinion of course

I second that heard alot of NSXs at XPO-01 and think this combo sounded the best.

Andrie Hartanto has DC header + HKS exhaust + light weight flywheel, feel fast. Thanks to him for giving me a ride, I found a new appreciation on what the NSX CAN DO

I am sure he can explain more about the DC header durability.

Bill, I think that the DC Headers and the Taitec JGTC Parallel Exit Exhaust would work and sound great on your car. The DC Exhaust will sound like the Comptech exhaust. It's sound is not aggressive enough for a car like yours.

If anyone can remember the bumblebee at the last two nsxpo's I have been running the dc header and exhaust, with and wo cats. The dc header are nice ,well done,my first go round was not so good.Back in 97 there werent too many H/E options. My first header had the o2 bolt location wrong and the bolt was aiming against the gas tank fire wall.Dc customer service was good and I got a revised one quickly.Just recently the exhaust blew a baffold(talk about bumblebee!) that was embarrising driving an nsx with a shot exhaust.I replaced it with taitec.Anyway the dc exhaust is as big as stock and is not much louder. With no cats though I thought it sounded great and had a unique tone different from all others. The quality of the exhaust was'nt as good as thier header, imo. The tips are single and are thick-walled ressenated tips the pollish tarnished slightly more than other exhausts I've seen.Hope this helped.

I have an earlier version of the DC headers and the DC Sports 4" resonated exhaust.

This is my own personal favorite combination of sound and performance that I have personally heard or seen. A very "mature" lower sound that is not to loud or harsh. No "low quality/rice" over or undertones and the performance increase is all in the headers.

A tad louder then OEM, very streetable, nice looking, and on par with the refined design trade offs the car was built with.

YMMV.

I think my exhaust on the PROJECT REDNSX sounds great under load but when the rpm's are low it sounds "ricy" I really dislike that term but use it because others will understand what I mean, netherthless.I want another RM DTM for look and I can be more stealth vs's everyone staring in annoyance accelerating from every light. www.mynsx.com

DC SPORTS header install:

Pro:
I gained 14 hp at the wheels. I did a direct before and after dyno. power was evident.

Con:
the things broke right at the flexible joint. I've heard of others doing the same. Stock engine. I simply had a flex coupler(Steel braided flex joint) welded in it's place at a local mufler shop. Problem solved and works great. (Additional $100)

DC Headers / Taitec GT Lightweight / Comptech Bypass

Sounds AWESOME! A little loud for daily driver, so my cats are going back in..

I HIGHLY recommend the combination..

1 con tho, still having a little trouble to get the exhaust to center.. May take a little time to adjust.. (I think that the bypass pipes are a little off)

Alient;I have the same settup and I would like to know your take on the exhaust note.I don't like the farty sound and it is obnoxious for regular street driving imo, but let me know, also are you going to nsxpo?btw we had no fitment or malfitment issues.

I've installed some Taitec Exhausts. Both went in fine, except for the fact that a couple of the Stock Exhaust hangers were a little WORN! They were a bit stretched out. Try Switching out from left to right. there was one that was "Tighter" than the other and fixed the aesthetics immediately. Everything is now on center without cost.
