Ryan,

I'm still deciding between BW with Aaron/John (www.speedventures.net) and Thill this Friday with Troy/Dave (www.ncracing.org). I'm leaning towards BW given that my left tires are worn from last weekends event at Reno-Fernely and running BW CW should wear out the right tires :).

Which run group are you planning to run in?

Did you get your car completely sorted out as far as suspension, alignment, tires, etc?

It would be great to have you out there. I'll be running in the white/intermediate group. I've never ran at B.W. before. What group are you running in?

I just picked up my car yesterday from Autowave. They installed my new Type R suspension, full rear non compliance parts and a Type R front bar. I'm sure the car will handle far greater than my capabilities. I'm looking forward to it.

Ryan,

I usually run in the 2nd Red Group, but speedventures has a very good policy of allowing people to run in multiple run groups when the track is relatively empty. So I sometimes run in Red Group 1 (really fast and crazy guys, LOL) or drop one group and run with White as well, it's nice being able to run multiple run groups... Lots of track time :)

If you are 100% confirmed, I'll drive down to Buttonwillow and do the event there.

Great. I've already signed up and paid.

I just recently bought some wheels with used Victoracers that perhas have one weekend of tread left. I'm debating running them or my stock wheels with my street Bridgestones (they're not S03's and they are not the OEM tires. I forgot which model they are. They are a "basic" high performance street tire).

I've never driven the track before, so I thought it might be a good idea to learn the track on street tires, since I've never driven on R compound tires before, much less at Buttonwillow. I've driven the stock tires I mentioned above at Big Willow at they are pretty forgiving and didn't seam to get beaten/heated up to much.

What do you think I should do? Stock street Bridgestone's or the Victoracers?

It would be cool if I could follow you to get the proper line and I would appreciate it if you could give me a few pointers as well.

Hi Ryan,

I would stick with the street tires for the time being, once you jump into R-compounds you will be tempted to do threshold braking as well as late braking and it's better to brake early on a new track that you are just starting to learn. Given that you are running a brand new suspension setup, minimizing the changes from your previous setup should make the transition easier, less variables that you will have to deal with.

As far as getting a ride with me and me riding along with you, I'll talk to Aaron so that I can run in the white group for the first session as well.

I believe that the Red 2 group will be before the white session so you can get a ride with me on my car once I get a couple of laps in my session so that you can learn the line (it usually takes me about 2 laps to get back in the rythm for a track and get the tires warmed up).

Afterwards I'll drive in the White group so that we can do a lead and follow for about 3-4 laps, then I'll jump in the car with you to observe your line and to make some comments. I'll bring my chatterbox with me to the track, that should make in-car communications easier.

See you on Friday morning then.

Safe driving,

Ken

Sounds great! See you there.
