Well, I got both today in my daily beater Supra. I actually have TRD exhaust which is 50 state legal and considered stock quiet. I picked this exhaust over other aftermarket exhaust to avoid trouble yet it still wasn't quiet enough.

Anyone had experience with a fix it ticket for exhaust on nsx or any other cars? what can I do? can I just pay the fine instead of having it corrected?

The front license plate is easy, but the exhaust is not going to be a easy fix.

Get the license plate fixed and see if they will waive your exhause ticket if you can prove the paper saying it is 50 state legal....good luck......oc cops are tough! I am kinda thinking of putting my front plate on but I dont like how it looks.....

One of the 10 reasons why I sold my BPU+++ 93 Supra. I dont know how many smog/exhuast tickets Ive gotten. I just put the stock one back on and got it signed off or i just sold my Supra and bought the a Nsx

That does suck, I am afraid to drive my Supra now, I will never drive it around Huntington Beach any more.

I am putting on the front plate to avoid any more potential trouble, but my exhaust is 50 state legal and it is just as quiet as stock, I picked this restictive exhaust mainly to avoid trouble.

From outside appearance my Supra is virtually bone stock other than the front lip  , Look like I will be driving my NSX much more frequently now, not a bad thing, but I have no front plate on my NSX either, and the exhaust not oem either. I should of kept the Civic Si hatchback as 2nd alternative beater.

You can try going to the marshalls office.
They usually sign things off and not even look at your car!
Just tell them you put the plate on. Think of something to say about the exhaust.

I had a few exhaust tickets in my time. Chances are, depending on how deep the tone is, is that its probably legal. The law states that it must be less than 95dB. Not only that its 95dBA. Because it has a A weighting, it filters out most of the low frequency rumble and therefore doesn't show up on the dB meter. So an exhaust that's normally 100dB ends up being like 85dBA because of the weighting. Here's a picture for reference.

I ended up buying a dB meter from Radio Shack to prove my point.

I got a fix it ticket for my window tint and my no-front-license plate a couple of months ago and was going to be an asshole and not fix it. A month later, I recieved a bill from a collection agency stating I owed them $730.00. I checked with Los Angeles Superior Court and found out that since I didn't fix either violations and did not pay the $30.00, it was turned over to this collection agency in Houston, TX and I had to pay it. That is freaking ridiculus for those minor violations. I asked an officer why they were giving tickets when I got pulled over a 2nd time and he told me that it was a matter of national security for the Cal-Trans cameras on the highway and at stop lights with the cameras. I told him it was BS and he gave me another fix-it ticket plus violations. Now, as ugly as it looks, I am staying mostly legal(exhaust is not, but no ticket for that yet) and not dealing with this BS. My advise: as ugly as it looks, just do it so they do not have a reason to pull you over and harrass you. Just my $0.02 since this is going to cost me so much damn money.
