Anybody use DirectBuy.com?

Like the title says, does anybody use this company or have you ever? What are your thoughts on it?

They just opened up a "showroom" here locally and have been advertising like crazy to get people to join. Is it like a Costco, but focusing only on stuff for your home? How much is the membership? They don't advertise the cost obviously. You have to go to a meeting to find out.

I think it costs around $3,000-4,000 to join. No joke. And you have to buy everything out of a catalog. I like to see and touch items that I buy, especially if its a major purchase.

Maybe you can find out if a family member or friend has already joined ,and "use" their membership. Or pool your monies and get a "shared" membership to defray the signup costs.

Wow that's quite a bit. In the commercials, they always show a couple who claim they saved $18k or whatever when they bought new cabinets for their home. Or the one's who bought a pool table for $3500 that a normal store was selling for $8k.

They did open a showroom here locally, but I don't know how big it is or how much they stock. I wouldn't want to be buying things out of a catalog either. I'm like you, have to "kick the tires" on anything that I buy.

I guess if it really was all it was cracked up to be and I was building a new house, I would probably join and buy alot of stuff from there.

I just read through a few of those reviews. It sounds exactly like a seminar I got suckered into going to for Trendswest. This isn't look good.

When you go to a "membership session" and are told that you either join that day or never join for the rest of your life....your SCAM radar should light up. Luckily I asked before I wasted two hours of my life listening to the pitch.

From what I hear, the prices are ok, but the shipping AND handling will kill you....often pushing you over MSRP.
