anybody paint the valve covers red?

Do a search under "Painted Engine Parts". There was a thread about this a few months ago that had many good pictures of detailed engine compartments (including mine - however I didn't paint the valve covers).

I agree that if you truly mean the Valve-covers, I would powder coat them, however, if you mean the plastic pieces (coil-covers)
those could be painted safely ( and inexpensively).

Put the paint can down. Do yourself a favor and powdercoat them. Here's a pic of my engine with the valve covers and intake cover powdercoated. I also have the JDM intake cover plate on top. Great addition! I actually have a spare set of NSX valve covers that i'm about to powdercoat in red, and sell with an exchange. I'm currently looking for an intake cover to make a complete set.
