i'm curious to see if anybody else is interested in a get together at either of these old-school car oriented locations:

i stumbled upon this private museum years ago and was stunned at all of the auto memorabilia. no f, p, l or any other foreign cars there - this is a tribute to the hot rod & bonneville crowd. the memorabilia is astounding - the first edelbrock header prototypes are there, multiple lake bed record setting cars - TONS of antique gas pumps, globes and signage. it's ~3+ hrs to buellton, so if we were to make the trip, it'd probably need to be early morning drive / tour / return home (unless your date wants to spend the night in solvang, right next door)

turns out this guy - a living legend - lives in rio vista... as does his rocket car. i don't know if anyone on the boards knows him and wants to give him a call to ask if his rocket car can come out to play / is open for visits and telling war stories. if so, great! if not, i'll try to find out how to get in touch and see if he's open for visitors. this guy -and his car - is absolutely the real thing.

i'm thinkin' mar/apr timeframe.

Sounds fun....if there's a lot of interest in this event , I'd propose another trip to the Mother Lode...and take in a couple of Caves...ie. Moaning Cavern etc.

that looks like a pretty cool place, too.

i suppose the low view-to-response rate (95:1) = low interest

i guess it'll be back to hooters....
