Looking for advice on purchasing a new board for daughter. Novice surfer - coming up on 14, 90lbs, 5'3". Surfs Jersey shore, Outer Banks, mild stuff only.
Board she has now is too heavy, maybe a bit too long although not a long board by any means. Any suggestions on what to look for? Brands? Deals? She was looking at a board from Lost but a salesman yesterday kind of put them down from a quality perspective and suggested a board from Wave Riding Vehicles who we are familiar with having been in their shop in OBX. Also has looked at a couple of Merrick boards. Thanks for any and all suggestions. (probably will be an "after xmas" gift as the local surf shops take $100 off a board the day after Christmas. ;)

If you're posting her dimensions and all, you really should talk to a pro about her board. Maybe ask him to watch her surf a few times to see how she surfs...how she gets up, how she rides, whether or not she's fluid, goofy or regular?

Is she looking for a short board, long board or a fun board?? Here in so fla, we only get to surf long and fun boards...waves are too small and choppy for anything under 6'4" for me (im not very good lol)

The only suggestion I would give is to try to find a female surfer that has spent many a year in the water. They are much more in tune with issues females face in the water with their boards than 99% of male surfers.
