Any recommendations for a good multimeter?

I'm in the electrical business as a manufacturer's rep. I have sold competitors to Fluke. Having said that, I use a Fluke when the accuracy of the reading is important.
Most electrical wholesalers can get Fluke - you can also try eBay for a used one. If you buy used, you may need to get it calibrated.

I have a Fluke and a Wavetek. They are both great DMMs. If you don't need a super duper fancy DMM and want to save some cash, Wavetek makes a great multimeter. I use my Wavetek the most around the car as the Fluke I have is quite a bit larger.

Fry's carries Fluke, when I was shopping for one, most places had them for roughly the same price.

I have a $400 Tektronix and a $110 Fluke. I grab the Fluke every time, unless someone else is using it.

It all depends on what you need it for.

At home, I use a crappy $40 Radio Shack multimeter that works great. I don't need a lot of accuracy for work around the house.

At work, only Fluke will do.

By the way, professional calibration can get very expensive.

I have a cheap multimeter. No real harm using a $3 Harbor Freight multimeter to check battery voltage, test for circuit breaks, and what-not. I do have another distributed through Snap-On.
