I think he's talking about the first concept for the NSX- as in the '80s.

Does anyone know what happens to all these prototypes?
Do they get destroyed or saved after the final model is released?

 Looks like somebody trying to replicate the NSX using a Nissan 240SX with Vette body panels....

Pretty shocking how old school rims and some antique styling cues make *pretty much the same NSX* look hideous. Keep those rims polished!!!
hideous??? hahaha

HIDEOUS is an understatment till u see this rear end.

Thin. Generally proportional. Vaguely resembles an NSX rear.

But for some reason it's like giving Rosie ODonnell liposuction and then saying she has a nice ass. It's just not the same.

Anyone notice that NONE of these prototypes are in Japan where the real NSX prototype was?

I think you'll find that these are "design studies" that were never considered! Not actual prototypes for the NSX...

I have a book which shows the real NSX prototype in testing in Japan 1986 (before it had VTEC heads and had to re-design the body). It looked nothing like these photos... It was almost identical to what they ended up with in 1989.

Seeing these photos leeds me to believe Spinner's thread on how Honda brief all their different design houses all over the world to come up with their own concept...

Probably either been crushed, sold to collectors, or some where in their factory storage. My friend who is working for Nissan USA had the chance to bring down few G35 and 350Z prototypes to my house before the production car were released. He told me all of them would be crushed after they are done with them.

Wow, I have been following NSX since late 1988, and seen plenty of Photos of NSX during track tests, even some of photos with Senna behind the wheels. It is weird for me to see these photos again, because the photos were available way before Honda released the NSX to the press, it really hit me how little attention I paid to these photos twenty years ago... When I was in the tenth grade...

I think these photos came from an old Japanese magazine I believe is called "Car Styling?" If I remember correctly, they did not called these cars as NSX prototype, but as Styling exercise. Designs by the LA and Tokyo styling house.

Speaking of Majorstoner, where is he?

Interesting. That license plate is registered to a 1987 Nissan Sentra in the LA area.
