Any experience with StopTech Aero Rotors?

I'm considering getting them, as an alternative to stock rotors. Does anyone have any experience with them? Has anyone proven to their own satisfaction that they will endure more track events than stock rotors without warping? Any other comments?

I have a set for the NSX that I haven't installed yet. I'm just waiting for the ones on the car to warp or crack, and then I'll put them on.

I also have a set for my other car, an Integra Type R. I've already put enough track miles on that set such that conventional rotors (OEM or PowerSlot) would be showing signs of cracking or warping by now. These aren't. I'm convinced.

If it's good enough for Ken, I guess it's good enough for me.

What pads do you run, btw?

Al Terpak of Sacramento has them too and has had at least one track event on them. He is not on this forum but you can e-mail him for feedback at: [email protected] (Al Terpak)

The nice thing about these they have a floating had and presumably should weigh less and stay cooler. But I think they come for only pre 97 models .........

The theory behind the two-piece rotor with the floating hat is that the rotor portion (the outer ring) can expand with the heat induced by track use, without a fixed attachment to the inner hub piece. One-piece rotors are more susceptible to cracking because they're all one piece.

I'm using RM Racing street/track pads on the front of my Integra Type R with the Stoptech rotors. (The pads are interchangeable with those in my NSX.)

I've been debating getting these too. There were so many spider cracks on my slotted rotors I think I was getting arachniphobia(sp?). Went back to the OEMs and they're OK for now but don't think they'll survive many more track events. The last time I was at Hallett, the rotors were measured at over 430 degrees with 1 cool down lap.

Ken, did you cyro treat the AeroRotors? If not, did you contemplate it?

I did not cryo treat the ones on the Integra. I don't recall whether I cryo treated the ones that I have for the NSX.
