Is there anyone else who has been f'd around by an e-tailer???

I recently tried to buy a JVC HDD camcorder from several on-line stores who had the lowest prices on the net, but soon found out that if all you wanted was the camera it was "out of stock", but if you bought their overpriced batteries and other crap they could get it for you...At least four on line stores (Prestiegecamera.com, 86thStreet.com , BroadwayPhoto.com and TechonDigital.com) all had the same bait and switch tactic...After buying on line I received an email from them saying I needed to call to confirm billing/shipping address..then after sitting on hold forever they come on and ask you why you didn't buy the battery pack??? WTF??? alarms start to go off in your head when they say you need to have this that and this in order to get the camera to your door...Every frickin one of them had the same tactics!!!

all of them had "5 Star" costumer service ratings from the different e-shop search sites also..It seems that they must be busy writing fake reviews for them selves that is why you are on hold so long when you try to call them..

buyer beware when dealing with these rat bastards!!!

Stick with the big guys like amazon.com and you'll do fine. Those guys are the online equivalent of the shady electronics shops you see in every city.

I think it's a consumer electronics thing. Same type of thing happened when shopping for my AVIC.

I saved over $1000 on my 60" JVC HDILA HDTV a couple years ago with no problems, from a Bizrate store...

I think it is not so much Bizrate, they seem to have legit stores..it's more of the Bizrate knock offs like Everyprice.com, Shopcart.com, etc. that have the too good to be true scam shops...

I'm just glad I didn't fall for their scam...

The worst experience I have ever had was ordering wheels for my NSX. The story is here on Prime. It was a night mare and took forever to straighten it out.

From a previous post...

I know how you feel as far as the excitement and anticipation of receiving the wheels and then BAM not what you expected. I bought a set from Prime "parts for sale" section a while back. I also received pictures and was very excited to get the wheels on the car. The wheels I bought had been refinished and never mounted on a car. They were perfect. I was so waiting to get them and then they arrived. I knew that something was up as soon as I watched the UPS guy unload the boxes that looked as though they had been dropped 20,000 feet out of a plane. All four wheels were ruined. I was so let down, just deflated. Insurance covered them.
So I ordered a brand new (non OEM) set from a place in New Mexico. The set came, looked great but the bore for hub was reversed front to back. I had to send them back. They sent out another set. This set the bore was perfect for the back but too small for the front. I sent the fronts back. They sent out another set of fronts. Third set arrives. DAMAGED. AGHHH. I sent that set back. Fourth set arrives and fits perfect. So when all was done and said what should have been a pleasurable experience turned out to be an all out effort of..Lets just get this over with.
BTW the rims were only on my car for 2 weeks before I put a HUGE curb mark in one on a granite curb.

For cameras and A/V equipment, B&H Photo or Adorama are usually the gold standard for low price w/o getting scammed.

Here's a good link to look up potential shops if you are unsure of a particular shop:
