About 3 weeks ago I was driving and had the get on the brakes fairly hard because of something in the road. The ABS just barely came on.

Later that day the ALB light came on and stayed on. If I shut off the engine and restarted the car, the ABS pump would run for about 1-2 minutes and then the light would come back on (times out so as not to burn out the pump).

I checked the FAQ and past posts and then tried to exercise the ABS by breaking hard on a sandy, wet, or slippery surface. I did this several times with no luck.

The ending of the story was that this morning I took the car to Davis Acura. Their very capable NSX tech (Bernie) exercised the ABS solenoids by "hotwiring" each one of the four solenoids.

He first used the T-wrench thingy and there was no stored pressure.

Basically the procedure was to remove the ABS relay (in the fuse box on the passenger side inner wheelwell) and use a jumper to bypass the relay.

He then removed the 4 solenoid connectors and then he turned on the pump and proceeded to activate each of the solenoids. When each of the solenoids were engaged you could see a bit of a foamy stream in the ABS resevoir.

Well, it worked.

The solenoid valves were cleared and they reseated and held the pressure.

Prior to this he also vacuumed out the old brake fluid in the resevoirs and replaced with fresh fluid several times.

I mention this process because some people might not be able to find a slick surface to exercise the ABS and this technique worked fine.

It's now onto The Glen for Monday and Tuesday!
