Ran over something in the road Saturday night when I was turning off. Turned out to be a pipe cap for a small hole in the road under construction. Couldn't dodge, took it center on.

Seems like the construction crew didn't install it very well in the pipe it was supposed to close - it was fifty feed down the exit from the hole.

Now my hood is raised about an inch when fully closed and latched, and the plastic under the car in front is cracked in four places.

Any ideas on what might be wrong? I can't see any obvious problems under hood, but something got bent...

Ouch!!! Sorry to hear!

Make sure that the alum. radiator support is still in one piece... I had a run in with a dip at a high speed and it did a number on the support bar.

I dont know about your hood though... Sounds kind of bad to do that kind of damage.

Good Luck!

Seems like the cross (tie?) bars above and below the front might have been bent up slightly. The insurance and body shop think they can pull it down - that's what pushed the hood latch up so it doesn't meet the front when fully closed.

I have to wait three weeks before they can look at it, though!

is it still driveable?

Btw.. your avatar NSX looks so innocent feeling.. every time you have trouble this time and last time ( the problems you found last time) makes me feel so bad when I saw the innocent black NSX avatar...you know what I mean Wilson??

Yeah, it drives fine - it's just the hood is up a little. Barely noticeable from the inside - hard to see from more than five feet away outside. Didn't seem to change handling at all.
