Another one on lug nuts - weight

The black OEM one is 1.4oz, the alloy one is 2.0oz.

I polished up the alloy ones to go on my Volks, but need either a set of locking nuts or another 4 lug nuts as car came with OEM ball socket locking nuts.

The alloy ones (I say alloy because not a trace of rust on them so they can't be steel - can they?) have no markings, do they look familiar? Or just generic Napa/Autozone?

I started looking at aftermarket ones but what I found so far seems to put the weight at around 2oz each.

What is the deal with lighter lug nuts from a reputable company? I am not too worried about appearance beyond not wanting red, blue etc.

Should I even worry about 3oz per wheel difference? Car is not tracked - yet.

I ended up buying a set of AROSpeed 7 side nuts, weigh 1.2oz each. BUGS2K has been running these for a few months no issues and they look OK with the gunmetal LE37s.

No. Even if the difference were three ounces per wheel, which it isn't.

However, you absolutely should worry about getting lug nuts with the same shaped seating area as your wheels. Most Acura/Honda branded wheels, including stock wheels, have a ball-shaped seating area, and with those you should be using lug nuts with a ball-shaped seating area, like the second one pictured above. Most aftermarket wheels have a tapered-shaped seating area, and with those you should be using lug nuts with a tapered-shaped seating area, like the first one pictured above.

Yes, I recently found out about the lug nut issue and corrected it, thanks.

2 oz - 1.4 oz= 0.6oz/nut = 3 oz pr wheel, no?

Not saying I can tell the difference mind you and 1.4-1.2=0.2x5=1 oz saving over stock.... LOL.

Thx for your input as always!!
