Another insurance for track question

Geico is my carrier and I asked for a complete copy of my policy with all the exclusions and I can not find any mention of race or driving school exclusions. I assume this is where they would be located. Without asking my agent directly how can I find this information. Thanks, Dan

If there are any exclusions, they should be specified explicitly in your policy. So you're going about it the right way.

Often, the wording used excludes "competition and timed events". Check again and see if there is similar wording.

If they use the word "paid" events, you should be safe for schools, and time trials etc. As long as its just a club event. It is getting very rare these days to find any coverage. That is why it forces so many fraud claims in order to get coverage, i.e. taking car off track after an incident and then filing a claim. I am not saying that I know anyone who has done that!

I spoke with an insurance agent (who was participating) at my last track event. He told me that only USAA insurance specifically prohibits doing high performance driving schools (i.e. driver's ed).

No other insurance company (that he was aware of...and he was an independent agent that represents lots of companies) prohibits it explicitly in the contract.

HOWEVER, your insurance company MIGHT deny the claim if the adjuster notices harnesses, track-only tires, etc. on your car when he checks it out for appraising the damage.

I have heard that Allstate has begun writing such exclusions into their policies. I'm not sure if this is everywhere, or just in some states...

Have any of you considered buying a supplemental policy specifically to cover you at DEs? We use a carrier to cover us during Grand Am events, so I'm sure you can find someone to write a DE policy if you call around.

Do a Google search for "motorsports insurance".
