Annoying Noise

It seems there is a sensor of some kind in the center console to the right of the lighter - a small grate in the dash. Well, whatever is in there has started audibly whirring - just loud enough to be annoying. Can someone please tell me what is there, what it does and if there is a way to fix it short of smashing it with a hammer - the hammer being my tool of choice for delicate work.

And if nothing is back there, feel free to tell me I'm hearing things. Thanks.

It's the aspirator fan - common problem.

First task is just to get to it - requires removal of the center console

Follow steps 1-5; No need to do steps 6 & 7.

Thanks for quick answers and diagrams. I had the same problem in my Z but there it is in the T-top and was an easy access fix. This will be the first venture into the dash if the blown air cleaning doesn't fix it.
