aluminum foil on windows - sign of marijuana garden?

cheap insulation?

hmmm... Possibly cell/wireless phone privacy? I've heard of people associated w/ nefarious activities using a closet or bathroom w/ the walls/ceiling/floor covered in aluminum foil to scatter their phone's signal.

Growing marajuana/cannabis, if cultivated indoors, requires C02 source (piping) and UV-lights and the aluminum foil forms a canopy acting like reflectors to intenisfy the heat/light to promote more rapid growth. Usually basements, closets, sheds, or unused/hidden rooms are where such plant harvesting is setup.

However, you being in Phoenix AZ, Malibu's guess seems much more plausable. But I wouldn't have expected this in a generally well-to-do/affluent community

Next time you see them, tell them you expect a next door neighbor discount (wink wink nudge nudge) and see what their reaction is.

It's amazing what Hollywood has taught us.

I'm still trying to figure out why a detective can only solve a case once he has been suspended from duty.

Probably just an expanded version of this ...
An Aluminum Foil Deflector Beanie (AFDB) is a type of headwear that can shield your brain from most electromagnetic psychotronic mind control carriers.

Wuaaahahaha

*falls over*.

Foil is 100% opaque. A lot of people use it to make the room darker without increasing IR absorption. In fact, many of the "dark" type blinds have foil inside of the accordion structure.

Does one of your neighbors work the swing shift? Some people who work nights put foil on the window so they get a better sleep during the day because it blocks the light out. I have heard of people in far north regions doing this when it is sunlight 24 hrs a day.

LOL. Its like DSP (Doggie Sensory Perception) , whereby the Dog in the movie always barks at the Bad Guy.

Does it snow where you live? If there's a serious grow operation going on, there won't be any snow on their roof this winter.

I don't know if they do or not.

Regardless, it's against the HOA rules. The HOA requires some type of window blinds, not aluminum foil.

It'll be interesting to see if the foil stays up. These neighbors haven't been the favorites of the neighborhood, from what I hear.

Dope is a possibility -have seen this hundreds of times. Could also be day sleepers though.
As for the HOA -I support them 100% - it keeps inconsiderate people from parking their 40' motorhome on their lawn, 4 wrecked cars in their drive, painting their house lime green with purple trim, etc.

I live in an area with a strong HOA and as soon as a home goes on the market, within 1 week they are sold. The area is pristine and houses sell for top dollar.

I have had several tennants who have been busted for trying to grow pot. The last one was just too funny. He hd covered the windows with blankets to cover up what he was up to. Well the blanket he hung on the front picture window was all black on both sides with a design on one side. He hung the blanket so the design was towards the road. The design was a huge pot leaf sewn into the blanket!
