Hi guys,

My name is Rob and I'm from Metro-Detroit. I'm 34 years old and love exotic cars. I currently have a red 91 NSX under deposit, and am scheduled to fly out next Friday to pick it up and drive it home.

This will be my first true exotic. I was considering a 2001 F360 Modena, but after hearing about the maintenance expenses with Ferraris, I decided that my first car should be friendly on the pocket book. A lot of guys suggested that I go buy a Z06, but to me corvettes are great cars but they are dime a dozen.

I remember seeing the NSX when they first came out, and was totally wowed. Then of course there was "Pulp Fiction" during my MSU days where Harvey Keitel drove the nsx. However, I kind of forgot about the NSX for several years. Lately my interest has been with the Italians - Ferrari 360s, Lambo Gallardo or Murcies, and I just test drove the Maserati Gran Turismo which is absolutely beautiful.

Then during the famous "Woodward Dream Cruise" in Detroit this summer, I saw a gorgeous black 91 NSX. I talked with the owner and he bought it new, and has over 100k miles on it, and he says it runs great, and has had no major problems. Then and there I decided that my first exotic would be an NSX. I imagine these will be valuable collector cars someday due to their relative rarity.

So I'm really excited and cant wait til next Friday. I'll make sure I post some pictures once I get home with it.

Adios,

Rob

Good decision!!!
Congrats on the purchase.
And yes, we want to see some pics.
Where did you buy from, (aka where you flying to)

The drive home is always a highlight of owning an NSX.
Take your time, enjoy the world around you as you drive.
These are the good old days.

(2 hours away from you in London, ON)

Red rocks!!!

I live in Waterford, which is real close to you. I'm on Loon Lake, over off of Dixie Hwy and Watkins Lake Road, in the new homes right behind Drayton Pool and Supply. Once I get it, maybe we could get together...

I have to travel over to Hamilton in the next few weeks for business, maybe I'll drive the nsx. My customer knows I'm buying it and he wants to see it too. Once I pass over the Blue WAter Bridge into Sarnia, its only an hour or so to London right?

Bravo brother! The NSX is a true exotic...and one that is easy on the pocketbook...and it does turn heads and get attention - the other day I entered the underground parking lot at one of the casinos and the attendant immediately waved me over and had me park up front next to a black Diablo...lol...it was neat to compare the cars...very similar but the Diablo is a bit lower and the front end is a bit shorter...

Dam

London is exactly 59 min from the bridge.
Remember 100km/hr = roughly 60mph
and our Canadian officers don't like radar detectors.

A better tip would be for on your trip back.
When you are on the 402 going back into Sarnia the speed drops to 80km/hr, then 70km/hr a long way out. Don't push the speed there at all. Cops there all the time. (as evident by my trip last year to NSXPO) I know better and still got busted!!! Dang thing!!!

Also, 50kph over the limit = automatic vehicle impound + min $2k fine in Ontario. So if you are going to speed, do 49 over. Personally, 120kph is a good cruising speed.

So, where you picking up you new little grocery-gett'r?

Ok, so I flew down on Friday to get the car in St. Louis. The 9 hour drive back home was pretty fun exept for the bad weather. I had to keep the car outside all weekend which really stank, because I'm remodeling my garage and the guys were working sat/sun. So my baby got rained on all weekend.

I had a blast driving it around - Definetly gets you a lot of looks.

I had to immediatly disconnect the power to that nasty antenna though. Honda really dropped the ball there. I plan on taking it to a custom Car Audio place to replace the HU and get some new speakers, along with a custom 6" sub to get me some low end.

Congrats and Welcome!

I'll bet you enjoyed every mile. I was fortunate enought to drive 1500 miles home after I bought mine. I was lucky and only hit one little pocket of rain.

Take a look at the Electronics Forum for stereo ideas. Shark Attack II antennas are popular, just tricky to install. Also check out the double din stereo thread.

Enjoy!
