Just recieved our renewal from Allstate for the next 6 months and it took a big jump. I had American Family forever and changed to Allstate four years ago because at the time they did not have a clause for HPDE events and AF did. In the new Allstate policy it says as follows...

Bodily injury damage arising out of the participation in any prearranged, organized, or spontaneous:

a) racing contest
b) speed contest; or
c) use of an auto at a track or course designed or used for racing or high performance driving,

or in practice or preparation for any contest or use of this type.

Needless to say I started calling around for some other rates. I believe I called about six different IC's and I ended up going back to American Family. They blew away all the other places I called. This is what I ended up with and the savings is huge. My record is clean 47 years old my significant other is 40. The quote is with multi car discount and homeowners. I'm sure the rates will vary depending where you live.

Allstate renewal for six months.

91 NSX- $386
05 Civic Sedan LX-$426
00 Ford E 150-$325

Homeowners-$375 per year

American Family for six months.

91 NSX-$234
05 Civic-$238
00 E 150-$245

Homeowners-$350 per year.

For us it's a nice savings with a little more coverage to boot. I also saw a article in the paper about Allstate and loosing $1.5 billion because of Katrina. It also said they did not renew coverage for 95,000 homeowners in hurricane-battered Florida last year and quickly raised rates. As for tracking the car I guess I will look into track insurance.

So who had coverage for HPDE? If I'm reading this right you left American Family because they didn't cover you, but at the end of the sentence you say AF did. Did you mean Allstate?

Also, I'm curious, did you call State Farm? If so, where did they fall in the mix?

Right.. American Family does not cover HPDE events I thought they did at the time until I did some checking. The reason I switched four years ago to Allstate is because the Allstate Agent said I would be covered in HPDE's...not so anymore. State Farm came in around $200 more per six months.

So what would you pay for a policy that covers you at HPDE's?

Not sure I need to look into it. Maybe someone here has track insurance and can chime in.

I'm with state farm and they still cover you under non-competitive driving events. Did they say they would cover you when you got a quote from them?

How much do you pay right now with State Farm? $525 annually doesn't seem too bad...

I'm 29, I pay $386 on my 91 nsx and $453 on my new ridgeline. Steve's got me beat on the age discount  But I've checked around and havn't found any better anywhere else. I have home ins. too but don't have the paperwork nearby, it's not a ton though.

Also, that's (from what I understand) is only to cover your car for a HPDE, am I correct Steve?

Holy cow, $386 annually?

That's a steal!!

Are there restrictions on the use of your 91 NSX? Is there an "agreed value" to your NSX? What are the limits of your coverage - 100k/300k?

Stop complaining because if you saw what Ny residents pay for there insurance you would be so happy you would be crying.

I wish! No, that's every six months. But now that we're talking about it, I just got my new bill in the mail. It's now $406.80, I'll have to look closer as to why it went up. I'm still "accident/violation free", or that's what they think!
