How does the alarm work on the NSX? Mine seems to be totally dead.

I'm curious too... Mine has never shown any sign of life, other than the blinking red door light.
I believe it works like all the other Honda/Acura alarms by forced entry only. There is no impact or motion sensor. It will go off if the alarm is armed and someone forces open the hood, trunk or doors, or if someone gets inside and tries to start the engine. There is no glass breakage sensor so it is possible for someone to break the window and gain entry without the alarm sounding. I believe you can test your alarm by rolling down your window, arming your alarm, then reaching inside the car and unlock the door manually. The alarm should sound. You can also sit inside your car, arm the alarm, the try and start your car with your key. The alarm should sound. I know this test works on other Honda/Acura cars, but I have not tried it on the NSX specifically. IMHO, the NSX OEM security system is the same as all the early 90s Honda/Acura OEM systems and is not good at all.

If you tried the window down/door handle test, and you did get an alarm, then the LED blinker has a problem. If you did not get an alarm, then you need to need to be pretty adept at electrical troubleshooting. You must use the service manual schematic and a multimeter to check this circuitry, and the troubleshooting guide in the service manual is helpful, too.
I would say that the switches on the various things that open are the likeliest culprits. For instance, you cannot arm the alarm if the trunk is open, likewise the hood. But, first check all 3 fuses called out in the guide: #6 and #8 in the main fuse box, and #45 in the main relay box. Then, follow the guide troubleshooting steps, and they should lead you to the problem.

Thanks for the advise. I'm pretty good with a multi-meter so I'll figure out the problem. Quick question..Does the alarm arm when you lock the door with the key or do you need some kind of remote? I got a cheesy little remote (doesn't look like factory equip to me.)that has two buttons. One button locks and unlocks the doors and the other button doesn't do squat except make the red light on the remote light up.
