Anyone know any good alarm installation places that won't charge an arm and a leg once they hear the word "NSX"

I'm generally looking for places in the San Gabriel Valley area.
Not really sure yet what brand of alarm I want yet, basically something that can lock, unlock doors, roll windows up/down, open trunk, and has a 2 way. I was leaning toward a compustar, but i've been hearing some good things about other alarm systems as well.

Any ideas would be helpful. thanks

Hello-

I've been using this guy for 15 years. He wires everything METICULOUSLY so you can pull all the wires out as a harness. He doesn't just tap power off existing wires a la the cigarette lighter etc. He's not the cheapest but won't ding you just for having a NSX. His phone # is 626 674 2777 name is Terence. He lives in El Sereno...you won't regret it.

Tell him Jeff sent ya'

It is about 50 miles. In fact, he works in Irvine but prefers to work out of his house. He did the Clifford alarm for me...great work.

Jeff

Can you give us an idea how much it cost and the type and features of your alarm?

Cost you will have to work out with him. I got the Clifford AG5. It is their top of the line so expect to pay some dough$$. I can contact him to get a price for everyone.

Features include of the top of my head (some he added to the system)

Starter/ignition kill
Perimeter sensor
shock sensor
glass sensor
motion sensor
tilt (believe this is exclusive to the AG5) sensor so if someone tries to jack up your car it will sound
Back up battery at the siren so the alarm will sound still even if the battery cable is cut.
Remote start (prefers to do this on automatics only though for safety reasons)
Remote headlights on so you can locate your car in the dark garage/parking etc.
Remote trunk release
Sure there is more but can't remember now.
**The best feature is the car jack feature. You have to punch in a sequence on a very small and even hidden pad. If you don't hit the code the alarm will beep lightly to remind you to punch in the code. If you still don't punch in the code the alarm will sound and then shut down the car totally (approximately 90 seconds after it is initiated). It is very smart though so you don't have to hit the code when you get back into your car for something while pumping gas. The feature is initiated once it senses a sequence of you closing the door, hitting the brake pedal AND your car hitting 3k rpm or so. So even if you get into the car just to warm it up and leave it is NOT initiated til' you gas it pass 3k rpm or so...real trick.

wow sounds like a very extensive (pricey) system you got setup on your nsx. This installer must be pretty good, if there are no glitches/failures with your alarm system.

I did a google search, and couldn't find any real good information on that certain clifford model.

Does this guy actually work at a alarm installation place or is he doing side jobs for extra cash? Just wondering cause I'd be skeptical if i go there and he tells me to park on his driveway and starts working. :D Also, what if I run into problems, I mean, I don't want to have to wait till he gets home from work to troubleshoot.

I'm still undecided on a alarm system. I talked to this place called DT Auto Sound in San Gabriel, they are a authorized dealer from Compustar's website. They quoted me a price of $500 for alarm+install of the 2WSS-AS model. But now I'm not certain if I need TONS of features that I probably won't use. Anyhow if any of you local nsx'rs find a good place let me know. Thanks

I see your point. Anyone who has seen my car knows that I wouldn't half a*s anything. He was laughing at the work the previous owner did on the 2002 headlight upgrade...he cleaned up the mess as well. He is extremely reliable and doesn't blow you off. I am sure he knows of the shop you are referring to. There is no guarantee the install would be clean there either. I don't have a bit of doubt that he will do the best job possible. When you see the install you will realize you got what you paid for. I have the Clifford AG IV on my Supra for 3 years now without a single glitch as well. I've owned other alarms and have had the darn things act up causing it to strand me...not fun. Good luck though.
