Ok, I just bought my 92 and the alarm keeps going off when I put the key in the door and unlock it. It doesn't happen every time, just sometimes. Also, when I lock the car the security lite starts blinking sometimes and sometimes I have to jiggle the key to get the light to start blinking. If I lock it with the botton inside the car on the door panel it lights up immediately. Any help??? It's pretty embarressing when your alarm goes off when you unlock your car!
You may want to check the FAQ file that will list all known problems (and remedies) for early model NSXs. Go to the FAQ file, then Troubleshooting > Anti-TheftÊ&ÊKeylessÊEntry and you'll see the necessary info regarding this.
It is up to you, but you have a couple of ways to take care of this problem. Since you use the key, I am assuming that you don't have keyless entry. (duh) You can fix it by replacing the internal part in the lock that has gone bad over time for $250-$400 with parts and labor. (I understand this to be somewhat tedious)
Or, you could upgrade to the factory keyless entry which supposedly band aid fixes the problem. Since you won't be using your key, I have read that the problem shouldn't occur anymore, but not 100% sure. The cost for a keyless if you can find it is about $230-$300 plus install. The problem with this is that you will only be using the factory alarm which is marginal at best.
The last option you have is to upgrade to an aftermarket keyless entry/alarm unit. This gives you a much better alarm with shock sensors, trunk release, etc. and costs between $200-$400 depending on what you get. This is the option I chose as I wasn't impressed with the stock alarm. FYI, unless you have the factory alarm wire grounded, it could still go off. (1 out of every 20 times in my case) Regardless, it is very embarrassing to have to fumble to turn off your alarm. If it still goes off, you have the option of disconnecting the alarm up front by the radiator and grounding it there as well. I haven't had a problem since install. Works great.
I did find a keyless entry unit under the passenger side dash that I didn't even know I had.
