Hey guys. This weekend, I tackled another project.
I recently sent an extra throttle body(purchased from www.fosterauto.com for $250) to www.kingmotorsports.com to get it bored out.($150) King motorsports took about 3-4 days to bore it out then shipped back to me in 3-4 days ground. They told me that they have never done nsx throttlebody so considering that, it was great turn around time. I wasn't in a hurry anyways. The guy I spoke to from King Motorsports sounded very cool and told me how much of a pain it was to do my throttle body...he went on to say that the price will go up due to its difficulity level.(sorry guys ) Anyhoo, I was amazed at how clean the returned throttle body was! Here are some pics.

New throttlebody front
Old throttlebody back
New throttlebody back
Comparison
The old one measures 67mm inlet and 64mm outlet while the new one measures 70mm inlet and 66mm outlet. The new one is fitted with bigger throttle plate also...super tight sealing. I must say, KingMotorsports did an awesome job.
Anyway, moving on to the install. The install is fairly easy. There are 4 bolts that are holding the throttle then another 4 bolts that are holding the rubber gasket. I ported the rubber gasket and the inlet of the intake manifold to match the larger outlet of the throttlebody. Initially I was going to go all out with the porting and even started porting the hell out of the extra intake manifold I purchased. However!!! I decided to only port the inlet of the existing intake manifold lightly since I didn't feel like taking off the intake manifold(which requires taking off more bolts...disconnecting fuel lines etc). I'm a lazy bastard. It'll be my winter project to replace the intake manifold and clean injectors
Intake manifold after light porting.
One thing I found weird about the throttle body is that it runs coolant through at the bottom. However it is almost like a bypass. It comes in and then goes right out. Not sure what the purpose is. But now, I'm afraid that there are bubbles in my coolant system.
At the same time I installed the Cantrell AIS.
Impression:
After the I put everything back together, the car started right up!
It even continued to idle correctly.... I was so afraid that it won't idle at all due to the new throttlebody.
Powerwise, I did not feel too much difference. Maybe a little at the top end. I was told throttlebody mod would account for maybe 4-5 hp. This is probably about right. After all, 1hp gain costs about $100 on nsx With the stock airbox and ais, the sound is much tamer than the cold air intake. I'm adding a chip soon, so I'll take it to dyno then. The end for now
