If you haven't changed over to r134, this place has plenty of R12. Getting some now.

converting to R134a actually prolongs the life of the original compressor and seals,

as the new R134a ref needs less pressure than the R12. so convert for 40 bucks and be done with it.

If you don't want to convert to R134, you can get FREEZE 12 at some little auto
parts store. Cost about $15.00 (12oz) can.

Interesting that I have heard just the opposite. The operating pressure required for the R12 refridgerant is much less than what is required for the R134. So from what I understood, keeping your system with R12 will have less chances of a leak.

Correct. The pressure readings at the same temperatures will show higher pressures with R134a.

BTW R12 > R134a except if you release it to the atmosphere, but even then it's better at harming the ozone layer than 134a :biggrin:
