Aiming headlights

The service manual show you how to aim the headlights but I want to know if anyone knows specifically which way to turn the screwdriver to get a particular result for each headlight unit.

In other words, clockwise or counter-clockwise for up or down or left to right and whether it's the same for the left and right headlamp.

Thanks in advance,
Hugh

I have the same issue...

However, I am having an issue with just trying to even turn the mechanism with the screwdriver. I tried a phillips, but can't seem to get it to click...

Someone please help us out.

:)

I'll have the covers off the headlights in a couple of days when I install my HID conversion. Then I'll be able to easily access the adjusters and post exactly what each adjuster does for each lamp.

They are a bit tough to adjust with the covers on due to the particular alignement of the covers to each car. If you point a light in the adjustment hole you'll see the teeth that the Phillips head engages. The vertical adjusters on the outside of the pods are at a weird downward angle. You almost have to stick the screwdriver straight down to get at them.

I too am having issues, but, it seems that the mechanism is turning, but the lights are not moving. Is it possible that something is broken? Both sides, vertical and horizontal of not moving.

Thanks!

Here is a picture of the headlight housing removed. I have confirmed that when I move the mechanism, it does not move the threads. I find it hard to believe that all of these are broken.

Is there something that I am not understanding here about the mechanisms of the headlights? Seems to me that when you turn the adjuster, it should bring the long screw in or out to tighten it.

djdrock, the picture you posted is the adjustment for horizontal movement of the headlight.
Theres another adjustment on the left side of the headlight(for left headlight) that you can adjust vertical movement.

They do have headlamp aiming machines, if your looking for an accurate adjustment. Usually inspection stations will have them, well at least here in MD. Sometimes it takes alot of turning the adjuster to get the aim right.

Yes, that is correct. However, all of mine are frozen. I will try the procedure mentioned in the post above.
