I got a mugen steering wheel and NSX-R hub.
I have a few questions about installing the wheel.
1. how can I cancel the airbag light?
2. is there anything special I need to take care of?
Thanks in advance for any help/

Courtesy of NSXBuilder.com, here is a diagram of the SRS main harness you will find at the base of the steering column. It's a yellow plug with 6 pins, I think you can even see it without having to remove anything. Just look at the base of the steering column right above where the bottom cover panel is and you should see it. It should have gray or green wires running to the plug (color depends on the year of the car).

Jump pins 4 & 6. Some people mentioned having to use resistors but I did not and it works fine.

Here's the link to the NSXbuilder.com page.

The diagram of the harness is shown below. This info is really hard to find in the manual BTW.

BTW, here is the picture, I would like to share with you guys.
It is Mugen FG-360 with NSX-R hub.
Mugen FG-360 has been discontinued from Mugen few years ago.

You do not know how jeolous i am of you right now. I regret selling mine when i had it on my civic. By the way do you mind if i ask you how much you picked it up for? It looks great

Thank you MRJdmNSX.
Actually, I didn't plan to put aftermarket steering wheel on my NSX until I found FG-360 from Japan.
I paid around $500 used in Japan when I went there for business trip, kind of expensive.. but well, it's rare enough to been this price to me..
Good luck to find another one.

When you say "jump" the pins, you mean connect them together right?

Can you simply cut the wires pre harness and splice them? If you jump them at the harness, do you need to solder? Can you snap a pic of what you did?

Thanks in advance

Thinking about putting a wheel in my car and was looking for a hub that bypasses it. Appears it may not be necessary if I can bypass the SRS myself.

get an 18 gauge wire. cut it at both ends to expose the wire. Push one end into 4 and the other into 6. You are basically building a bridge between the two points.

I just did it this weekend. If you can figure out how to get the horn workign wiht a momo steering wheel, let me know.

I've got the same wheel very nice grips and hand holds, but those small horn buttons are tough to hit in an emergency, most folks think the little red buttons are for NOS

Just curious - is there any feedback on the rapid steering wheel hub from SOS? That hub seems to allow all functions, possibly even cruise control, to be maintained. They suggests that feedback is further elevated over other hubs. It is this hub HERE

I did a search and came up with nothing for this hub.

I just got my momo race steering wheel in the mail yesterday, so I'll be taking this project on.

I already received my SOS hub (because I wanted to keep the cruise) and I bought the carbon fiber buttons from Dali...so I have two buttons (for cruise) and the momo horn in the middle.

Is there anything else I should know about taking the stock wheel off? Any pointers? I've never done that before.

Eric, the Airbag lights could be by passed with some sort of resistors.

I'm sorry that I don't have much info on that since my hub was the HKB one and they came with such resistor. My buddy's shop figured that out and put that on Freelance201's car. I wouldn't jump the wire without resistor if I have a 93 and up car since you don't want any accident that trigger the air bag, and it's a peace of mind that your passenger still get the air bag "treatment". Eric you have a 91 right, then I will jump the wire as the other suggest, as there's no more airbag in the car at all, and it won't matter if the system is working or not.

lol...yeah, no worries about the passenger getting nailed. I have a '91.

I'm more worried about the damn thing going off in my face when I attempt to take the stock wheel off. I know that theoretically that's not possible...but, well..it's a 91 and I have my doubts. I have about as much electrical know how as an atari 2600...so my friend Schuss will be helping with this one. I'm pretty sure I could set that airbag off if it's at all possible....and that scares me.

So what is the process for removing the wheel? Is there anything special?? I was feeling around the thing while driving into work and I only found one screw hole on the bottom left side...where are the rest? (or are they revieled when that one is removed?)

It's not difficult at all, but the screws that hold the airbag and cover, is not a philips head screw, so you need special tools to remove it, and because it's a 91, it might be awfully tight, and just be careful not to strip them (asked me how I know ;) ) Just be safe, remove your battery connection, wait for a while then start working it with removing all the connectors first..... For me the most time consuming part is to align the steering wheel straight, cuz even you position it right prior removing, after you removed the center nut, you could have moved the steering wheel position.

Also some hubs, like mine doesn't have minor adjustment as the momo hub, so you could have a mis-aligned wheel that you may or may not need alignment after that.

last but not least, it does take some "banging" and wiggling to get your stock wheel out, you won't hurt it, just FYI.

Well you were right...those screws were not easy. We were able to get two off, but the third stripped...so we drilled it out. Not a big deal, just took some time.

Schuss was able to re-wire the cruise using one of the plugs off the wheel and the wires in the Dali kit. The momo horn was pretty easy...we used one of the fastening screws for the wheel as a ground.

Tested it out, everything works great. Big props to Schuss and his soldering gun...there's no way I would have been able to re-wire that crap. I've very happy with the new wheel!

Doing my own Tuner 350 install and saw this thread. I had the JDM type R horn button before, so there is no ground wire in the hub. The Type R button has a metal spring contact around the diameter of the button that contacts the inside of the hub to provide ground. The new Momo horn doesn't have the spring.

DrVolkl - how did you use the fastening screw for the ground? I think this may be a better way to solve my problem than taking off the hub and wiring a ground wire from behind...

Has anyone taken pics of the screws everyone keeps getting issues with?

I didn't take pictures when I installed mine but I'm installing a fellow Prime'rs steering wheel tomorrow (he got it from Erick). I'll take pics of what kind of screws are where, fastener types/sizes, installation steps, and before and after. I might as well make it a DIY.

Install tomorrow, so maybe look for it on Tuesday after the holiday weekend?
