A strange problem and an even more strange question:
Tomorrow the weathers good, I'm going for a short drive to lubricate everything as a monthly winter job. I'm waiting for the SOS shipping which will arrive in the next two weeks i.e. new carbon instrument cluster. Does it harm the NSX if I drive her in this state, no instruments on, see pic? My ears will decide on the speed, the rev limiter on the revs and I think I have enough gasoline. :D

Do the car even start? I knwo that probably sounds a little stupid but I've seen many vehicles that won't run without a cluster in them.
Some of the newer cars won't run if you replace the cluster unless you have it 'flashed' first.

I've not tried to start it. My concern was about a possible damage. Is it possible to damage something electrical if the instruments are not installed?

If you're going to try to start or drive it with anthing electrical disconnected, I'd recommend covering the loose connectors with electrical tape just to be sure that no live wire grounds out and causes a short somewhere.

While I really don't know for sure if an NSX will start/run w the gauges dc'd, I'd bet that it probably will. Most cars will. Just make sure that you cover all of the connectors. I'm curious if running w/o the gauges connected would trigger the TCS (?)

I had the same situation last year waiting for my chrome rings to arrive. I drove the car a couple of times without the instrument panel in no problem. It did seem somewhat surreal not knowing any information about the status of the car. Shouldn't hurt for short distances.
