Im a new college grad and recently got into a job in outside sales, mainly advertising sales (tv/print). I was just wondering if there is anyone in sales here and if they could give a new starter any general sales tips so I don't fall flat on my face. I have a detailed knowledge of the sales process from business school but Im not sure how much of that will translate to real life situations. The company hired me on a chance because they felt that I had "hustle", i am not filling the position of an ex-salesperson so I did not inherit a lead list. My target is any local business in my area. Any advice would be helpful.

Make yourself available at all times of the day or night. If your job is your number one priority you will be successful.

Congrats on a fulfilling and often stressful position. Be sure to develop a good self-esteem, a thick skin, strong work ethic, and negotiation skills. The best advice I ever got was from a guy named Peter Daniels; "Tell the truth attractively."

Good luck!
