Anyone who mounted adjustable coilovers on their present shocks?
I have koni adjustable shocks but I would like to be able to alter the hieght of the car and I am not interested in investing in new shocks with adjustable coilovers but only mount coilovers on the present shocks.

Anyone done that?
Images, advises, problems etc etc?

Regards

Ground control has a coilover kit that you can slide over your existing shocks.

Check them out @ www.ground-control.com

Go to there master catalog located on the left side of there home page. You should find an application for the NSX. Price $599 U.S

Koni Coil overs

Check out:

http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/

They have a great price, about $350 for the spring perches alone, $600 for perches and springs. You need to send your shocks into Ground Control and they press the perches on your Koni's. I have been thinking about this set up, let us know if you go this way and how it works. This is the least expensive coil over set up I have been able to figure out, if you already own Koni's

No Coils

Thanks for your help.

I will not be using any coilovers, but modify my shocks by first removing the welded ring that keeps the perch in place and weld on a new one about 1.5" lower, and then use replaceable tubes in order to adjust the height of the car.
An easy to manufacture system, but a lot of work every time I want to change the height of the car, but it wont be that often I guess.

Anyone who modified their shocks in this way?
Lathed, welded on the shocks?

Regards

Why not modify the perches and leave the shocks as they are? Seems like a pretty good chance of messing up the shocks by welding on them, plus the hassle of dis-assembling the shocks so you can weld on them. You could weld sleeves/tubes on the perches that would allow the springs to sit lower. The tubes would have a lip that would engage on the current stop on the shock, and have an ID that would be able to clear the stop. I would put 4 set screws loctited on place at the bottom, below the spring perch, to keep the part from squeaking, with just enough pre-load to keep it in alignment and not distort the shock.

What you describe is quite common on many cars. There are specific kits for some cars but I have always gone the DIY approach. You can buy the threaded aluminum sleeves and matching perch rings from places that cater to racers. I would go with the smaller springs at the same time. Not sure why you say changing height is so tough though. That's the easy part, but of course you need to be aware of the alignment changes it will cause.
