I have seen many people in Japan who drives Acura NSX which is left hand drive. Anyone know where and how these people got Acura as opposed to Honda? Maybe reverse import? I'm curious

ak,

I travel to Japan a few times a year. I have only seen "Honda" NSX's over there!

Check out MACS, in Japan. They primarily sell used NSXs. If you look at the last one (silver), it's an Acura.

Oh, play the intro movie on their website. Pretty nice.

Nice..they have a good assortment...finally a factory white/white nsx! Auto though...they also have a yellow coupe with ivory interior. neat.

I knew a dealer friend who informed me that a NSX enthusiast in Japan bought a USDM Acura (I think it was one of the Zanardi Ed. ICBW BTW-about the USDM Acura being a Zanardi) and had it shipped back to Japan. Perhaps Japanese residents can't just spec a USDM NSX from Honda, even if it came out of the same country it was produced.

THis makes lots of sense, since most streets in major Japanese cities are rather small, crammed, filled with traffic lights on every block and crowded with pedestrians! Bumper-to-bumper traffic is the reality commuters had to face, so unless you're a weekend club racer, most softcore Japanese enthusiasts would prefer the auto over Stick.

People want to be different hence why people put kits on the car and modify it in general. What you probably saw was a Honda NSX with Acura badging. Ive seen this a lot in Japan, mainly on Toyota's though, were people change the badging to Lexus.

In Japan, it's an 'ambition' (maybe not the right word), to drive an 'import'. Cars like BMW, MB etc. Anyway, to really prove that is an import, a lot of buyers will have a left hand drive car, just to make it look different.

Maybe this is why Japanese are going to the trouble of buying Acuras. More looks than anything else.

This car is actually LHD, with an aftermarket stereo.
