I read the FAQ under the "buying" section where it describes a test one should have an Acura dealer do before one purchases an NSX. I was wondering what this test is and what it will tell me. Will it tell me if the car needs a rebuild?

Also, does anyone know a good dealer Dallas where I can take a car for this inspection?

Thanks a lot guys!

If you find a car, you may get someone from this site to look at it for you. I was quite suprised that someone that I didn't know would be willing as long as it was in their general area. I had a guy in Vancouver WA look at the car I bought a couple of weeks ago, he said it looked good then I did a used car inspection from the local Acura shop that was reccomended. I spoke personally with the NSX tech "do your homework" that did the inspect. It cost $75 and they sent me a report and I spoke with them personally when the were doing the inspection. They don't do a compresion test but it was quite detailed. Would also advise that you ? the owner as to the service history. I just got all the service work documents from the owner via FedEx. Hope that helps....

Tom,

Thanks for the help. That would be nice to get a member to look at the car. I was wondering what was in that Acura inspection report. What type of information did it contain rather?

Thanks again Tom!

Quite alot, but you should speck to the mechanic personally if you every do one. They drove the car to check the clutch, tire tread depth, brake pad wear in the % left. Brake fluid color. Shoot me an e-mail and i'll send you the copy if you have a fax #.

not that this will help you in texas but, i have access to a high tech digital mil-depth gauge that will measure paint thickness on aluminum panels. though most repaints and repairs are usually obvious, this meter will provide the last word. if anyone near me in ga. (or surrounding states) would like to check their car/s or one they are interested in, please let me know, i would be happy to assist.

Compression / leakdown are not part of the standard Acura pre-purchase inspection, but I'm sure they would be happy to perform that work if you requested it and don't mind paying a little more labor.
