Hello i just got back myy CCU repaired by Brian K to my surprise.I installed it & still got no activation of the fan blower.I was told it could be the Blower resistor that is bad. I saw some other threads where some of you took the blower out & cleaned everything up & it worked fine.I would like to attemp this first before spending lots of money on unnessary parts.

A)How long is removal time & reinstallation of this part approximatly ?

b)Is there any gaskets or other dealer parts that will be needed once opened or is it just a matter of disassembaling & putting it back together after cleaning it ?

c) Is there a thread or somewhere i can refer to step by step instructions on this task.

I would refer to the trouble shooting chart in the service manual on pages 22-40 through 22-44 for the blower motor. Make sure it is not a simple fuse or failed relay before you go too nuts.

Further, realize that you can test the blower independently of everything else by simply disconnecting it and applying power to the 2P connector.

15-20 minutes.

No.

Blower assembly install/removal is detailed in the service manual. Section 22-63

easy. remove the spare tire bracket. you should be able to access all the ports on the fan blower and it comes right out. my old car... all i had to do was clean the magnetic contact and it worked like a charm thereafter.

Whats your opinions when I took out the Black blower in my car and replaced it with an entire new unit. Anything I could check before I send it to Briank. Also my headunit works, but it will not give me any fan speed at auto, full low anything.

This is really good advice.

The location of the blower relays (there are two) is identified on page 23-10 of the 1991 service manual. Remove the blower relay and the blower high relay and check for signs of melting.

I checked my relays, and they looked fine, one had a small amount of build up, but the actual relay box (the part on the car was in good shape) seemed ok as well. When i move the right knob on the ccu unit (fan speed) it makes a clicking noise under the hood. It seems like it is wanting to engage, or it is making a noise like something is not kicking on. I am totally stumped on this one. Any other suggestions?

I take it your CCU has been rebuilt by now? If your CCU apparently seems to be working, but you get some clicking from under the hood, and no fan speed, this points back toward the blower. Assuming that you have not already, I would apply power to the 2P connector directly and see if the fan will come on. I wouldn't consider anything else until you can get the fan turning by applying direct power.

Are you sure you have checked the correct relays? My bad one showed evidence of melting along one side.
