I too have recently paid a visit to a dealer to seek assistance in resolving 2 problems with my 92 model.

I am told the two are not related, please could anyone advise ?

I have been intermitently experiencing the ABS pump running for about 5 secs on startup. Although this only happens occasionally the frequency is increasing (maybe one in 10 starts now).

Secondly the brake master cylinder is weeping fluid very slightly.

My dealer advises:

Replacing the brake master clylinder £650/$1000 AND replacing the ABS high pressure hose £150/$200.

I still have a few days of Honda's extended waranty left on the car so I feel I should do what they advise although the warantee only covers the first £500/$800 of the repairs.

Thanks in advance.

If your master cylinder is leaking and you can have it fixed under warranty you should go for it.

As for the ABS hose, why does it need to be replaced? Is it leaking? That would cause the pump to run on startup but should also be noticable, but it's not the most common cause.

I had a problem with my ABS pump a while ago on my '91 NSX. It began to come on intermittently, then increased in frequency until it was on practically all the time. Rylands Honda in Manchester diagnosed a problem with a seal; they swapped the seal round and charged me an hour's labour, this cured the problem completely...for about £80.
Hope yours gets resolved OK.
