About vBulletin Migration

After reading Lud's announcement, i gotta admit I'm excited with this upgrade...

Lud, will you be using v2.3.x or the v3 beta?

Also, will you retain NSXprime's current color scheme or have you got anything new up your sleave?

Lud: If you need any graphics/banners done, i happily offer my services. (even if decide afterwards you don't like it) You put so much into this site, i'd love to help anyway i can.

BTW, don't forget to do a backup beforehand.

I am only using release software, no betas.

Color scheme depends on time. If I'm pressed for time I'll just use the default at first and adjust it later.

i'm glad to hear Lud is not considering betas... less chance of prime going down for >24hrs.

personal opinion: I love the red color scheme you currently have because that's what most NSX's are.

Next weekend, March 28-30, if all goes well.

Go to any of the forums and at the top, click on the part that says "Moving to new server and software - IMPORTANT note re: DOWN-TIME, USER NAMES and PASSWORDS" for more information.

I think they are handled differently. They can certainly be re-used but the migration of avatars may not be automatic.

Postcounts will be transferred, as long as all the posts remain. vB will automagically count all the posts as imported and postcount+1. If the posts have been pruned, then we can always manually change them.

As a matter of fact I've tried that on a previous vB install. It doesn't work.

It automagically changes it back to 0.

Giving up nsxprime for 24hrs is like:

* Holding ur breath for a day
* 40hr famine.
* A vow of silence
* giving up smoking (i've never tried either before)
* trying to drive your nsx under the speed limits...
