Well, the JGTC Intro Movie for Season 2003, mentions the Speed Channel covering its events, and then says that theres a possibility that an exhibition race could very well be coming to the West Coast of the USA in 2004!

Laguna Seca, possibly?

I just wish SPEED would cover JGTC the same way F1 is covered with practice and qualification live. That way I could learn about each team and choose a favorite Honda NSX. But until then its good for a goof and a lot better than NASCAR (yuk). Do you think we could request this kind of coverage since thats how we JGTC in the first place. Is it just me or is does it seem like every time I check to see whats on SPEED its NASCAR over and over and over again.

It really amazes me that a big-time cable network like SpeedTV actually listened to viewer's request to televise JGTC, regardless of the compacted format as the races were shown this year of the 2002 season. SpeeChannel's purpose this year was to gauge interest level before they pour the big $$'s into full coverage. Now they realized that JGTC is actully very popular here, they have gone as far as obtaining broadcasting rights for 2003 season. So out with the compacted highlights with overly worked up Aussie commentator, in with Calvin fish and David Hobbs!

Yeah there has been talks of a JGTC race at Laguna Seca, but if I remember correctly, it will not become a possiblity untill 2005 at the earliest.
Let's hope Mazda will match serve with the other constructors and push for getting events on their "marquee tracks", just like HONDA does with Motegi and Suzuka.

They're planning an "exhibition" race in Shanghai this season, most likely at a (temporary) makeshift street circuit
