A typical morning at Cars & Coffee...

I decided to take a short road trip and attend Cars & Coffee today, a nice way to begin the holiday weekend. Three other NSXers also attended, typical for this awesome gathering of cars in Irvine, CA. I arrived early enough to park in the "platform" spot, a utility ramp that serves the Ford facility parking lot.

A gourgeous black Diablo soon pulled into the spot to my left. When the owner decided to open his passenger door, the match was complete. Included are some pics I snapped of some of the other cars in attendance today. After seeing the video posted by TomCat of the NSX who joined a Pantera club road trip, the two Panteras in the show lot received a little extra of my attention.

The red/black Viper is awful.

Is "awful" a step up from "sick", a step down, or do you just mean you don't like red/black Vipers? I'm from the "cool" and "bitchin" generation. You get reminded of your age and mortality during moments like this.

ha i hope you guys know the red/black viper is like that from the factory. Its the new viper SRT-10 ACR, and it did hold the record for production cars in germany at the ring.... until the Gumpert Apollo embarrassed it and every other car. I agree it doesn't look very good but its fast as shit.

lol what happened to that porsche? it got stretched the wrong way - you want it wide and fat. oh well, each to their own.

although that black diablo in pix 1 is jawdropping scarey. :)

Nice pics. Wish we had events like this in my area. Love that GT-40. drool

Why don't you start a car meet in your area? I wouldn't think it'd be hard at all. First, find a location. It can be a public area like a park or shopping center. It can be a private spot, but that's hard to arrange. "Donut Derelicts" began by a few guys with hot rods meeting in the early morning hours at a local donut shop to chat about and look at their cars. As it grew, the organizers got permission from the retail store owners whose parking lot was being used to use their lot as a meeting place. The agreement was to end the event by 9 AM, before most shops opened for business. Naturally, the donut shop owner was more than happy to be part of the event.

The internet makes it easy to communicate and network with local car buffs. Create an electronic flyer and you're in business. Start with a monthly meet and see what happens. Then, you can be credited with starting your own unsanctioned car meet and even decide upon the name, something like "Ed's Cars 'n Kali Meet".

First, I love your avatar, both humorous and clever. Second, here is one other Diablo at the meet that day. It's funny. Most of the Mercielagos were basically ignored, same for many of the Modenas both Challenge and Scuderia models. You get spoiled at events like this.

That Porsche GT1 is gorgeous. I would love to see one of those in person.

Not a bad idea. Just need to find a good location with a decent coffee or donut shop nearby. I have put together events for other types of clubs in the past so I kinda know what to expect at first. Motors -n- Mocha might work for a name.

You're welcome! Check-out my other post under "Off Topic" from the 'Donut Derelicts' meet I went to last week. There, you will find many pics of hot rods and other Detroit iron. We may have fires, too much traffic, and not enough rain here in SoCal. But we ain't called the car capitol of the world for nothing.
