I have discovered a new source of interior squeaks that has not been addressed before in the archives of these forums.
A little history... I've been trying to track down a squeak that manifests itself mainly on low speed bumps. No amount of lubricating and/or tightening of things in the door or dash would rectify the problem. I finally made a sacrifice to the god of squeaks, and then I found the source.
It was coming from the side sill pad. (This is the pad that is located in the bottom of the door frame. Your butt slides over it every time you enter/exit the car. At the front of the pad is the release lever for the gas tank door) A little silicone lube on the attachment points and no more squeak!
Hopefully this posting will help some other poor soul who is tortured by interior noises.
