A question concerning replacement of the shock tower brace.

I have a '99 Targa, and I wanted to replace the triangular-shaped brace, with the one from Science of Speed that goes straight across. I want to be able to see the engine. Comptech does make a very nice one for the targa cars...but to be honest, I don't want to spend $695.

I know that it will be less rigid, but will it cause any problems (I only use the car for normal driving, no track use).
