A Pillar wind noise

I had quite significant wind noise coming from rear of drivers window. I moved the door latch (striker?) inward, the door closes tighter reducing noise. I still have noise around the A pillar. The seals look to be in decent shape. Any thoughts? Would a window alignment make a significant improvement?

If you have wind noise coming from your window, why would you move the door striker?

That is going to effect how the door closes and the body panel alignment.

Adjust the window instead. There is another thread recently asking about window adjustment. Take a look.

Or look in the service manual. It will tell you how to adjust the top of the glass to sit closer to the door.

Window alignment is the correct way to go - but - if you want a down and dirty fix - put a piece of black foam weatherstrip between the window seal and door jamb to push it out a bit. Hey, I said it was down and dirty !

Thanks for input.

I did research window alignment. A bit more than i have time for right now. Might get dealer to do but i doubt they see enough NSX's to have actually done this before. Are they required to bill for a standard time (not actual)?

I might also try the low tech method as well.

Thanks

Two things:
1. Use the low tech method as mentioned and
2. When rolling your window all of the way up, open your door first. The window goes a little higher w/ the door open. So, open door, roll up window, close door. That will reduce wind noise a little as well.

If you can take off your door panels, it is fairly easy to window closer to the door.

You will need a 4mm allen wrench and a 12mm wrench. You will loosen the bottom nuts and screws (2 per window rail = 4 bolts and nuts total) that holds the front and rear glass guides.

It helps to scribe a line on the nut and screw to give you a reference point.

First, loosen the nuts. Do not remove.
Hold the nut with the 12mm wrench and use the 4mm allen wrench to turn.

To move the top of the glass OUT, turn the 4mm allen wrench CLOCKWISE.
To move the top of the glass IN, turn the 4mm allen wrench COUNTER-CLOCKWISE.

Do this evenly on the front and rear bolts.

Tighten the nuts when finished.

Check by using a hose and water to see if you get a tight fit.
