i have a photoshoot coming for a magazine soon, and thought this would be a great occasion to spruce up some minor details around the car... a buddy of mine scored me a set of these pure JDM-whole goodness TOP SECRET hood pins... (big whoop to the most of you...haha)...

but i figure these cool latch style pin system is better than the unsightly sparcos... these sit pretty flush onto the hood of the car, and can be seen on some JGTC car panels and even the TOP SECRET cars....

more pictures after install to follow....

Always hated hood pins I think they rune the smooth lines if the car. These look very nice. Cool animation

+ If you forget to latch your hood the speed will do it for you:tongue:jk

i still have my stock latch too... its just an extra measure of security, as i've SEEN SOME fiberglass hoods give way on the stock latch, and had the hood fly open and slam into the windshield.... NOT COOL....

it happened in my civic once lol i just finished my integra type r front end on it (this was years ago) and then i took it for a spin then the stock latch gave and *SMACK* shattered my windshield damaged the hood and dented the roof :( bad bad bad day!

i've seen it happen all too often with the old school black widow hoods too... so i just been more cautious about it... and would rather put some latches on than be sorry for it later...

What magazine is your car going to be in? Cover or feature?

=X can't say... i'll let you guys know right after the shoot... don't build more hype into it.... its really not a BIG magazine PER SAY... think more 'non traditional' magazine

Your other car was featured in PAS (Performance Auto Sound Magazine) right?

you're right... almost any product you see these days are private labeled products... but the hood pins to me are rad either way...

and we DO pay for the PRICE of name brands for most parts we pick up... heck even some parts are more expensive just cause the application is an NSX....

with that said.... i got these through a hook-up... so i'm pretty jacked about putting these on

I was considering these, but felt they were too large for the hood... I saw a set in person on a Supra at PAG a few months ago, and they confirmed my suspicion - perhaps they will look good once installed on your nsx, but I felt they were too large, and too intrusive, to install on my hood - they require a BIG hole, and are not flush.

yeah... they are a bit on the BIG size... but i like the heavy duty almost 'race track issue' look  and i know they don't sit literally flush... but it does give off a more flat look than the traditional pins

so here they are:

and a few other RANDOM tid bits (like new ARC intake installed):

They look great, blend in with your hood really well. Clean!!!

coming from MR. CLEAN-R that's something... haha...

i had to mount the pins vertical as it looked and flowed better than mounting it horizontal. only problem was it left 1 pinhole size hole from the old sparco pins. so had to fill in with black epoxy... you can kind of see it... gotta find a way to blend it a bit better...

Is it me or the pin installed backward, I mean don't they suposed to go the other way (wind catching the mechanism in the open movement in this case)!
Nice mod though, but I don't know if I want to make a hole in my CF hood.... desisions...:)

its generally up to you the direction. the latch, when pushed down, actually has a specially overlapping piece that clicks into place... very secure when you see how it works in person... you need to PUSH the small piece down, in order to pull the large tab up...

I found these for $75 a set. They do look similar in appearance.

probably the exact same thing... it looks like its just a standard latch set... and TOP secret just used this company to private label their own..
