Last week we attended the Canadian F1 race and we arrived on Crescent street (where Honda takes over 2 blocks) just as the F1 charity auction was starting. I always thought having a piece of a real F1 car would be great. To make a long story short I ended up the winning bidder on the rear wing from the BAR Honda.

If you look closely you'll see some writing near the ends. It's the autographs of Takuma Sato and Jenson Button. With Jenson's multiple podiums this season and Takuma's podium today at Indy today it makes having this that much nicer.

yup, good stuff from BAR. too bad official merchandise is so expensive. i was at indy this past weekend (today for race) and i wanted to buy some stuff to support team, but nope, just held my flag i bought in montreal. which, btw, is like 20 bucks cheaper there.

man that's so nice!!!!!!!!!! i was at pitwalk along on thursday for the USGP, and i thought sato or button would be nice enuf to come out and sign some autograpsh, i had my BAR flag all ready.. but nope.. : (

Congrats on acquiring such a unique item. Although, you realize it would only take couple aluminum brackets to turn that unique piece of memorabilia into F1-engineered downforce for the NSX. :D

Too cool!!! What a great souvenir - I'm envious. Cross your fingers that one of those guys becomes a world champion. Do you know any race history on the piece? Does it have any BAR identification tag or model number on it?

I bought a similar piece from the Arrows A11B that Eddie Cheever drove to third at Phoenix in 1989 at a charity auction during one of the subsequent USGPs, but it was unsigned. I carried the thing by hand to a later CART race, and Eddie signed it and said " keep the faith - the best is yet to come. "

I only know it's from a BAR 005. The right and left metal end pieces each have their own part number stamped into them. The wing itself also has a part number on two labels, one just inside each end. It has seen some kind of action as there are a few pits in the leading edge.

oh, forgot to ask yah, how much did you bid to win that piece?
You don't want to know :)

Nice!

In tokyo Mr Craft a model and automobile memoribilia store has F1 souveniers such as the Helmet visors of the drivers and actual steering wheels in CF with electronics.

BAR parts

Hey Danger...........

Nice Job!!!

Very cool to see some real race enthousiasts in this group!!

Hope that you find a cool way to display it, like w/ a photo of the car at YUL or IND.

I think you can buy some of these F1 parts on the BAR site too.

regards,

david
