A hard race to win

It's good to see the Eurofighter coming out on top, even though it is an overpriced piece of euro-trash (no offense to any europeans here). :D

The funny thing is, when the F1 car is maxing out it's speed, the jet is just getting started!

In the F-16, it's a bit "slow" (not as fast) going from 0 to 100 on the runway, but it accelerates blindingly fast once it gets it's legs above about 300 knots.

There was a race here in the USA between a Hennesey (sp?) Viper and an F-16 in Phoenix, where the Dodge won. Unfortunately, the chips were stacked against the F-16 from the beginning, since it was in Phoenix (heat sucks the performance out of a jet engine more than an internal combustion one) and they used an F-16 with the oh-so-crappy Pratt & Whitney motor. Given a cold day and a GE 119 motor, and there aren't many things outside of Top Fuel that can keep up.

I think the F1 could've won if the track wasn't damp. An F1 optimized for acceleration can accelerate the 1320ft in less than 8 seconds at over 180mph. The jet fighter would be catching up as the distance increases.
