[h=1]Acura RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD On Display at LA Auto Show[/h][h=2]11/1/2013 3:00:00 PM[/h]

  • RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD is the most powerful and technologically advanced Acura sedan ever made, with 377 total system horsepower; delivering V-8 power and 4-cylinder fuel efficiency
The Acura RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD, the flagship of the Acura luxury-performance sedan lineup, will be on display at the Los Angeles International Auto Show on November 20, 2013.
Acura's first luxury sedan to use hybrid powertrain technology and electric-powered all-wheel-drive, the RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD delivers V8-like performance with 4-cylinder fuel efficiency, along with the outstanding handling and all-weather performance capabilities of Acura's torque-vectoring Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system.
The RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD is the most powerful and technologically advanced Acura sedan ever made, and combines a 3.5-liter SOHC direct-injected i-VTEC V-6 engine with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission and three high-output electric motors. As a result, the RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD has total system power of 377 horsepower and an anticipated EPA fuel economy rating of 30 miles per gallon combined.[SUP]1[/SUP]
The RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD will join the 310-horsepower RLX with Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) in the Acura model line in 2014. The RLX P-AWS model made its world debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in 2012 and went on sale earlier this year.

The new NSX will most likely be turbo then if the emotors are only add ~60 hp. I'm actually not surprised at this output at all. They are probably favoring overall efficiency over high power output.

The NSX motors (all four) will be more powerful. Of course they chose overall efficiency over high power rating. That's what Honda does. I'm expecting the NSX to be 100hp higher than this but at close to 1000lbs lighter. Hoping to see a performance test soon and expecting the performance numbers to be greater than the HP number suggests. That wasn't the case with the standard RLX but fingers crossed.

Using the data from the large heavy RLX four door sedan to conclude the NSX will have turbos is quite a jump in logic no?
Why would you conclude that?

I'm curious to see the weight difference between the RLX and RLX SH-AWD. That should give some more insight on where the NSX should tip the scales at.

Let's just say tho the NSX emotors wil make ~80 hp total. If the 3.5 V6 engine can make 420 hp, at 120 hp/liter, then it will be right at 500 hp. That is fine and dandy for a 2900-3200 lb car, but I realistically think that the new NSX will be closer to 3400-3600 lbs when it finally hits production. The upcoming announcing of full specs of the RLX SH-AWD will help with speculations. I think there is a lot of pressure for the new NSX to meet certain performance targets and the realistic curb weight and power output from the emotors will require more power from the engine. I think turbo will be a factor unless Honda can squeeze 450-480 hp out of an all motor V6 or disregard/compromise safety and convenience to keep things light. I wish the former was realistic, but you never know, maybe Honda has an ace up there sleeve that is not FI.

Either way, I'm even more excited now, about any new news really. The 30 mpg combined rating for the 2 ton, 380 hp RLX is quite impressive IMO. Curious to see what the acceleration numbers will be.

More than likely Honda in underrating the motors on the RLX so that they seem very different from the NSX output. Also it's rated at 366hp not 380hp. What they didn't release were tq numbers which will tell the performance tell. Expect the NSX to have crazy tq numbers.

If the NSX videos we have been watching have the actual V6 powering it, it is most def NOT a turbo....a turbo would never sound like that.

More than one site have been reporting 377 hp?

I agree to a certain extent, but the MP4-12C does not sound like it is twin turbo either. I don't think we can conclude the car is NA or FI based on an early video though.

Oops my bad N spec and it was right at the top of the thread. Please excuse.
