A few quick laps at Infineon (Sears Point)

Thanks for posting! Great, high quality track video.

Infineon/Sears Point is my favorite racetrack I have ever driven by a very wide margin, and I have run every road course in California and Nevada. I have spent 3 weekends running there in the last 4 months in my S2000 track day car.

This driver is amazing they way he cuts through the field like all the other drivers are standing still.

I wish I could afford a formula car and the annual racing budget that goes with it. :frown:

Re: Nick's quick but so is the bloody FB

We were just talking about this video this morning. (Not much to do standing around in a monsoon at Infineon at the Formula Car Challenge/NASA race when very few cars even ventured out for the practice session.) This vid is Group 2 in the San Fran SCCA region, about 18 months ago. Story goes that Nick purposely went out last just to show case 1) his FB and 2) obviously the GoPro. Interesting point is that the #17 FM that he flips off at 2:22 is one of us standing there in the rain. The #17 obviously didn't see him.

Nicki's been getting better since he showed up in SCCA over 3 years ago and he now owns the track record at all SF tracks for FB (F-1000). He set the Infineon Qual record on this weekend, so he and the car were dialed in.

And the FB's are getting quicker too, as they relax ECU and other FB rules. He is right on the heels of Formula Atlantics and will soon be racing the FA track record holders. So, not to take anything away from Nick, but those FB cars are soon to be the fastest thing in SCCA.

By my sundial I got that last lap a 1:36 -- that's five seconds faster than I've ever gone at Infineon (Sports 2000).

Re: New Formula Car

designed to be economical.

It'll take some time to catch on, but it's the club racing car of the future. Not as fast as an FB, but Mark and Telo of WorldSpeed have both said the goal was to make the car as cheap to run as a Spec Miata. We'll see.

Re: Everyman's formula race car

I was invited to be the development test mule for the FormulaSpeed 2.0 today at Infineon. It is definitely an easy car to drive fast once you get the hang of a no-lift sequential shift. This car sure looks to be the logical replacement to our venerable old standard Formula Mazda.

I realize 99.9% of you guys don't care about this, but for that one guy in a thousand who is ready to go club racing in a low maintenance formula car.......take a close look at this. http://www.formulaspeed.us/

OK, back to our regularly scheduled fendered car programming.
