Aloha from Maui.........Napa Autoparts has a $30 kit to retrofit and recharge the R-12 a/c system to R-134a without opening it up......
anyone done it?

Mahalo from Maui Boy............91' sebring silver

I used one of those kits before on an older Mopar. It seemed to work fine and blow ice cold. Very easy to install and recharge. I don't know if has been done on an NSX. Anyone?

Thirty bucks? I heard it will cost over $300 to update the old CFC system.

Any remarks people?

FAQs says about $60 for Acura retrofit kit. I had this done last year, I think they charged me about $45 for the parts.

To my understanding, when I converted my R-12 Porsche to 134 A, I had a place bid me a conversion without replacing the receiver dryer. I am told that this must be replaced for the conversion to be correct in the long run. I would assume the same applies here, but could be wrong. I would be leery of a $30 fix leaving everything as is.

The Acura kit costs around $60 and it takes about an hour to install. Unless your dealer is charging $240/hour for labor, it should only total about half as much as you heard.
