What exactly does it do?
If I have it plugged in but not necessarily mounted behind the grille in the center console will it still perform the function for which it was intended?

It is designed to pull cabin air into the temp sensor area so the AC computer can compare the inside temp with the sensor at the front bumper and the sunlight sensor in the dash (I am still going to send it to you TallBrian:D) to determine fan speed and recirculate mode.

It depends if it is still able to sample cabin air easily, I would guess.

So I should probably try to figure out a way to attach it to the console then huh? Have to get creative.

For sure:).

The fan assembly also houses the temp sensor, so your CC will not be right without it passing cabin air through it.
