I'm pretty new to the NSX world, but I'm trying to figure out something. Did any 1996 NSX ship with 3.2L / 6 Speed drivetrains from the factory? Trying to figure out the story with a 1996 that has a 6 Speed 3.2L drivetrain, which I assumed was a previous owner upgrade, however, after examining the engine stamp, below the C32B designation is a number that matches the vehicle VIN, which is a 1996 NA1 VIN (dash and engine compartment stamp match). The owner said he thought it was a "change over" car at the end of 1996, but I"ve not heard or read anything about that. Is it possible that the engine number just happens to coincidentally match the VIN? Seems like unlikely but all I can think of.

The production of NA2 did not start until February of 1997.

my 96 has a 3.2.........but I replaced the 3.0l with it.The short answer is the car is iether a 97 or it is a 96 with a engine trannie swap. The stock 96 ecu is obd2 so the electrical system did not have to change to drop in the 3.2 tbw.

Does that mean that the 96 ECU should be able to signal the reverse lockout in the 6 Speed? Because it current;y isn't functioning. I was planning to do the brake light relay fix, but if it's just a matter of connecting the solenoid properly to the ECU I'd rather do that.

the 96 cars don't have a 6 speed but SOS has a fix for the 6th speed conversion.
