Per Richard's request, here are some pics of my old '95 with the '02 wheels.

Sorry the pics aren't that great. Can never get home early enough from work to take pics out in the sun.

RyRy210,

Thanks a lot for posting. I've actually wanted to know what the new rims look like on the old body style, and your pictures provides a terrific sense of that.

May I ask how you got them (get them from the dealer?) and whether there were any mounting issues?

Regards.

Well, 1st of all I must say that the car looks better under normal lighting conditions. I did get the wheels from www.hondacuraworld.com, which is a dealer in NY I believe. There are some mounting issues with 91-96 cars. The front calipers won't clear the spokes on the front '02 wheels. You need to either 1) upgrade to 97+ NSX rotors and calipers or 2) get 5mm H&R spacers.

I have no doubt it does. It still looks great in the pictures, though.

That's what I was concerned about, since I have a '95. Do you have a sense of what the average cost might be for either option you highlighted (again, I know there is a wide spectrum of quality/prices, but just wanted to get a ballpark.) Which one would you recommend?

Regards.

Well, if u can find a good used set of '97+ calipers I would definitely go with option 1. As a matter of fact, 97+ are CHEAPER than 95+ calipers. Then you can grab some nice slotted rotors instead of going OEM. The 97+ calipers and rotors are 100% bolt on mods to the older NSXs. This is also the more expensive route (but don't forget you have better braking now as well). The spacers is the easy and inexpensive way out. Either way is fine, you just have to ask yourself whether option 1 is worth all that extra money.

The car looks great! But why did you get rid of the 7 spoke oems? Do these weigh less? But the real quesiton is how do you keep you garage so CLEAN?

Well, this is a long story and some members are familiar with it. Initially I had eibach and bilsteins installed on my car along with my OEM 7 spoke wheels. The car was awesome, but alot of people thought that after loweing the front wheels looked too small. I agreed. I then got myself some 17/18 inch TE37s. Then the horror began! Rubbing! I tried everything but could not stop the car from rubbing. The only time it did not rub was when I had my OEM wheels. So instead of going back to my 7 spoke OEMs, I decided to get the '02 OEMs since the overall width and offset are the same as my old 7 spokes (plus they are 17 inch so would compliment my lowered stance well).

You haven't seen the other side of the garage yet!

These are 17/17 all around. The fronts have the same offsets as the OEM 16s, but the rears have a different offset (probably due to the fact that the 17 rears on the '02s are wider). I remember taking some pics out in the sun, I just can't find them! I'll keep trying though. '02 OEM's front offset is 55mm and the rear is 56mm.

Thanks for posting those pictures RyRy210!
The car looks great.

I'd still like to see the pics of your '01 with the wheels though.

Just an FYI, my '01 is red as well so there isn't that big a difference (well.. new formula red is suppose to be darker, but I personally can't really tell).

Oh, and for those who want to know, I have lowered the car with bilsteins using the lower perch w/ stock springs.

RyRy210,

How much did the '02 wheels and tires cost? Also, did you notice any handling effects between the '01 wheels and the '02 wheels. And one more thing, for 97-01s, you can just replace the wheels with '02's right? No further mods neccessary? Thanks.

Nice pics. Incredible shine. What type wax do you use?

I had a professional detailer do it and he used his own wax formula.

I really don't remember how much it cost. I recommend contacting Tim at honacuraworld.com for more information. Yes, for the 97+ you can just replace the wheels, no other mods are necessary.
