stopwatch.

That is how long it took me to pull the head unit on my car.

After knocking over my beer and having a visitor show up, I slowed it down a bit. No need to be in haste on reassembly.

I wasn't looking to set a speed record but it was interesting to note how little time it takes to get into the center console.

Once u get pass the first time, it get pretty quick afterward.
19 screws altogether?
2 behind clock
4 under armrest
2 top of console
2 behind CIG tray
1 lower of console
4 holding ccu
4 holding radio

BAM! Done.

Except when you are putting it all back together and holding a roll of duct tape. :) (The reason I took it out was that the GROM plugs came out of unit...I used a little tape to keep them in place should they get tugged again.)

Also, I originally ran the GROM wires under the shifter, through the tunnel. I moved them to the passenger side and more forward in the footwell.

duct tape will peel in 2 weeks after the heat gets to it.. you should have used that aluminum tape they use on a/c ducts that last forever.

I actually have used it on muffler tips and years later still there working

I also use the metal tape to hold the weights onto my rims. if the weights ever try and fall off they cant because the tape is keeping them in place. I have never had an unbalanced rim ever

do over LOL

I was doing a proximity keyless entry system on mine while I was on lunch at the shop the other day.. needed to pull a couple wires from the P-side to the D-side and my part time guy came outside to find the whole interior laying on the ground. He laughed when I told him it was the 'easy way' to pull the radio and run the wires behind it. Heh.

That being said.. at some point the two clips on the bottom of the vents on mine had been broken off, and that means it take about.. 2 minutes tops to pull the radio. Love working on the interior on these cars.
